Neoporteria occulta

$20.00

Neochilenia occulta is probably my most-requested cactus outside of ariocarpus. It’s the ultimate cactus: small, easy to grow, black bodied, and short on spines. Interestingly, no one can agree on the plant’s size. Britton and Rose gave 5–8 cm for the height, and we can assume that globose means the diameter is about the same. Backeberg gave 1.3–2.5 cm for the diameter. This plant needs a fast-draining soil and a pot deep enough to accommodate its taproot. And because it hails from the foothills of the Andes, it’s cold sensitive. Keep them dry over the winter and above about 35° F.
