Echinocereus rigidissimus subs. rubispinus is one of the local form of Echinocereus rigidissimus. It is distinguished by the short, dusty, red-purple spines and dull purple-red stigma lobes. Its blossoms are magenta red, large, and showy in comparison with the small size of the stem. Its unique-looking spination makes it a desirable Echinocereus species.

Currently growing in a 3” terra-cotta pot.
